Our mission is to help women in tech broaden their networks to improve their success.

We envision a more inclusive tech community, drawing more women to join tech companies and technical professions. We aim for a future in which the technology industry in NY more closely reflects the diverse community in which we live.

Personal networks are one of the largest contributors to career success. Yet, forming these connections can be difficult for women who work on mostly-male teams and participate in mostly-male industry groups.

Our part in this industry is simple, yet has potential to achieve powerful outcomes.

 

Founding Story

In 2012, Jovena helped create and roll out NYTechWomen. The direction of the group transformed and was brought under the Bella Minds brand. Jovena founded NY Women in Tech, branching out from NYTechWomen to fulfill her own personal vision for supporting women in tech in NYC. Jovena has worked in tech for most of her career, initially exposed to the field through her mother. Jovena’s mother is a software engineer and business owner and her sister is a web developer / designer. Jovena has seen a rise in women in technical careers, followed by a fall. She is personally committed to helping women in tech succeed in their careers.
